The Larry Grossman Forest Hill Memorial Arena in January of 1960 was known as a “Community Centre in Memorial Park”. In 1967 the two artificial ice rinks situated in the area known as Memorial Park was erected by the village of forest Hill in permanent commemoration of the centennial of confederation in Canada. The construction was made possible through the co-operation of the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada.
By 1970, the city owned arena began to operate as a Board of Management, independent from the City of Toronto’s Parks and Recreation program.
In 2004, the addition of Larry Grossman to the name of the arena was made official with a ceremony and a plaque honouring the late Mr. Larry Grossman for his public service to this community and the Province of Ontario.
